The courtyard at No. 255 East Gulou Street is a Beijing municipal cultural heritage protection unit.

The courtyard at No. 255 East Gulou Street is located

at No. 255 East Gulou Street in Dongcheng District and is listed as one of Beijing’s Sixth Batch of Municipal Cultural Heritage Protection Units.

The screen walls on both sides of the floral-pendant gate feature exquisitely carved brick lattice windows in diverse designs. In the second courtyard, there is a double-layered hexagonal white marble pool with a monumental column-style fountain in the center. The northern part of the courtyard features a main room with seven bays, whose interior includes hardwood-carved floor screens, antique display shelves, and partitioned doors. On the exterior of the rear gable wall is a brick-carved screen wall. The back courtyard wall is inlaid with five long scroll-style stone carvings. The brick carvings, stone sculptures, and interior decorations in this courtyard are all extremely exquisite and finely crafted.
