On January 12, 1997, it was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level key protected site.
The majestic and solemn Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument bears on its front a gold-leaf inscription by the former President of China: “Eternal Glory to the Revolutionary Martyrs!” On the back is an inscription by the former Vice Premier of the State Council and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference: “The martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives to establish the revolutionary base in eastern Hubei will be remembered forever!” Wang Renzhong and Zhao Puchu also inscribed words for the cemetery.

The current east exhibition hall of the Tuanfeng County Revolutionary Memorial Hall displays the turbulent history of revolutionary struggles during the New Democratic Revolution period in the former Huanggang (Tuanfeng County, Huangzhou District).
The spark of revolution in Huanggang was ignited by the May Fourth Movement in 1919. Party organizations grew from nothing and continued to develop. The rise of the agrarian movement marked the beginning of the revolutionary armed struggle by the people of Huangfeng. The large-scale peasant uprisings held in places like Huilong Mountain demonstrated the strong desire of the people of Huanggang to seek liberation and improve their lives. During periods of low tide in the revolutionary struggle, the people of Huanggang remained firm in their beliefs, unafraid of sacrifice,
and continued to show indomitable courage in their struggle, one after another. The arrival of the Red First Army and the Red Twenty-Eighth Army in Huanggang provided timely guidance and support for advancing the revolutionary struggle in the region.
During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Comrade -, Deputy Secretary of the Hubei–Eastern Special Committee of the Communist Party of China, along with comrades such as Liu Xirao, came to Huanggang to lead the anti-Japanese salvation movement. They formed the Fifth Independent Guerrilla Detachment of the Hubei–Eastern Anti-Japanese Forces. Under the leadership of comrades such as Zhang TXue, the people of Huanggang fought against the Japanese invaders, supported the establishment of the 14th Brigade of the New Fourth Army’s Fifth Division, and contributed to the creation of the Hubei–Anhui Border Area and Southern Hubei Anti-Japanese Base Areas, writing a glorious chapter in the anti-aggression struggle with their blood and lives.
During the Liberation War, to eliminate the reactionary Kuomintang forces, the people of Huanggang cooperated with the Liu-Deng Army in their southern campaign, supporting the People’s Liberation Army in liberating all of China, making indelible contributions.
On April 17, 1949, Tuanfeng was liberated, and on May 14, the entire Huanggang region was liberated. In all the revolutionary wars over the years, countless heroes from the old Huanggang base area made the ultimate sacrifice. The people will forever remember them. Their immortal achievements will be celebrated for all time.
