Dongyue Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

Dongyue Temple

Located on Huilong Street in Huilongshan Town, Tuanfeng County. Originally built during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, it was renovated and expanded during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty and the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty. The existing main structures and theater stage remain. The main buildings face south and are symmetrically arranged along a central axis, consisting of the mountain gate, bell and drum towers, Kṣitigarbha Hall, and Guanyin Hall. The theater stage, also known as the Wannian Platform, faces north, is 12 meters wide and 9 meters deep, with three bays in width and two bays in depth. Its layout is convex-shaped, divided into a front stage and a back stage. The front stage features a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof covered with gray tiles; the back stage has a single-eaved flush-gable roof with gray tiles and a post-and-lintel frame structure. This temple is one of the largest surviving religious architectural complexes in eastern Hubei. (Fifth Batch)
