Dragon Boat Water Town is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Longchuan Water Town is one of the key scenic areas in Lichuan City, Hubei Province. The Dragon Boat Water Town scenic area, originally named Shuilian Cave, is located in Liangwu Township, Lichuan City, about 10 kilometers from the city center. Last October, the cave was officially closed for renovation, and a national bidding process was carried out to complete the detailed controlling plan for the scenic area. Currently, the project has finished constructing walkways and railings both inside and outside Shuilian Cave, demolished buildings that did not meet A-level scenic area standards, buried cables underground, installed lighting facilities inside the cave, and built two cave dams and tourist restrooms.

Scenic Overview

Shuilian Cave features a 2,000-meter dry cave, with attractions such as the Great Buddha Cave, Guanyin Cave, Shuxin Spring, and Xiniu Cave. These sites are well laid out, staggered in height, and offer uniquely spectacular views. It is the longest water cave in China, known as the “No.1 Water Cave under Heaven.” Inside the cave, sections such as Tianzhu Gorge, Bianzhong Gorge, Carp Gorge, and Ji Qu Gorge are interconnected. Especially the Ji Qu Gorge, which is narrow and long (making it difficult even for two boats to pass), offers an exceptionally tranquil and mysterious atmosphere. The cave is richly endowed with secondary chemical deposits—stalagmites, stalactites, stone flowers, and stone curtains are all distinctive. Some are crystal-clear like jade, others shine like gold; some are thick as pagodas, others thin as vermicelli. Each formation is strikingly lifelike, resembling a magnificent underground palace.

Verdant mountains line both banks like ink paintings, while painted pleasure boats drift gently over the wide river. Along the way, visitors can gaze at the surrounding green hills and forests in the distance, and observe the pastoral scenes and village homes along the shore up close, taking in the full charm of the water town scenery. Passengers can sit or lie down on the boat, enjoy entertainment or play games. In addition to singing along the spring-like river, visitors can also experience a variety of exciting water amusement activities. Starting in July, visitors to Dragon Boat Water Town in Lichuan will be able to experience the charm of a Jiangnan-style water town without leaving Enshi.

Children under 1.2 meters are admitted free of charge; children between 1.2 and 1.4 meters purchase child tickets; seniors aged 60–69 can buy discounted tickets with their ID card; seniors over 70 years old only need to pay 30 RMB for ferry and guide fees with their senior citizen certificate.
