Maqian Village is located in Liangwu Township, Lichuan City, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province. It is 23 kilometers from the city center and 11 kilometers from Liangwu Town, covering a land area of 12 square kilometers with a total of 22 villager groups. There are currently 69 homestay operators in the village. The Lichuan Maqian Kangjiazhai Homestay Tourism Development Co., Ltd. has been established to guide homestay renovations, manage operational hosting for homestay operators, handle external marketing, and oversee external collaborations. The Maqian Village Homestay Tourism Association has also been set up to promote community self-governance, fully leveraging the enthusiasm and creativity of local residents. The average elevation of Maqian Village is 1,050 meters, featuring flat terrain that forms an alluvial plain nestled in the mountains. The village boasts thousands of acres of fertile farmland with crisscrossing paths, where pairs of white cranes dance gracefully and villagers can be seen carrying hoes and shoulder poles, creating a rich rural charm. The Fairy Cave River flows down from Fobao Mountain and joins the Maqian River, an important tributary of the upper Qingjiang River, adding vitality and beauty to Maqian Village. The village offers a vibrant cultural life with well-equipped sports and fitness facilities, a cultural square, a farmers’ library, a chess and card room, and internet access. The village is clean and tidy, with simple and honest folkways, and an eco-friendly environment, making it an ideal destination for summer retreats, wellness, and retirement. In April 2015, it was designated as a relocation demonstration site for poverty alleviation by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and in 2016, it was recognized as one of the city’s “Ten Villages, Hundred Enterprises, Ten Thousand Households” rural homestay tourism demonstration villages.
