Lao Wuji Homestay

Lao Wuji Homestay is located within the jurisdiction of Zhonglu Town, Lichuan City. Travel along Provincial Highway 326, turn left at Liangwu onto Lipeng Line, and drive 16.4 kilometers to reach the destination. It is concentrated at the confluence of Yaojia River and Yu River. During the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era, indigenous families with surnames Ma, Huang, and Qin built houses and settled here, gradually forming a neighborhood. By the Guangxu era, locals laid a 1,100-meter-long, 6-meter-wide fish-scale-patterned street surface using hemp-lashed flagstones. Currently, there are 66 preserved wooden structures (stilted buildings), covering a construction area of 3,500 square meters. It is the best-preserved old street in Lichuan. The cover of the first edition of renowned architect Zhang Lianggao’s masterpiece “Tujia in Wuling” features a photo of Lao Wuji Old Street, and the movie “Love in the 1980s,” adapted from a novel by famous writer Ye Fu, also used Lao Wuji as a primary filming location. In 2016, Zhonglu Town focused on the development concept of “unearthing a traditional old street, a love story film, a picturesque village, and an ancient salt route,” striving to advance the construction of homestay tourism demonstration projects and continuously enhancing the quality of rural homestay tourism. Lao Wuji Homestay offers a total of 262 standard rooms and 125 single rooms. Since the development of homestay tourism, bolstered by the popularity of the movie “Love in the 1980s,” the magical legend of the Village God and Goddess, the idyllic scenery of the new countryside, and the historical charm of the ancient salt road, Lao Wuji has attracted a large number of visitors from near and far for travel and sightseeing.
