Fujia Mountain

Fujia Mountain is located 6 kilometers south of Daye City, bordering the Dayi Highway to the west, adjacent to Dongjiakou and Taipojian to the south, and 2.5 kilometers from National Highway 106. The mountain is dominated by Longjiao Mountain, featuring over 80 peaks of various sizes, covering a total area of 80 square kilometers. Preliminary surveys have identified more than 50 scenic spots within the area, including large karst cave systems, as well as natural landscapes such as Fiery Horse Looks Back, Jade Serpent Emerges from Cave, Dragon Horn at Dawn, Eighteen Arhats, Elephant Curling Its Trunk, Clamshell Opens, and Immortal Bridge. There are also historic sites and cultural relics such as Longjiao Ancient Temple, Longquan Ancient Temple, Filial Piety Memorial Archway, Wu Jinshan Revolutionary Base, and Yue Fei’s Sword Casting Site. Additionally, there are several perilous, narrow, and uniquely beautiful streams that resemble colorful scroll paintings. Together, the mountains, waters, caves, and scenic spots here form a distinctive and world-class tourism landscape.

The most unique wonder of Fujia Mountain is the massive natural karst cave that has captivated countless people since 2000. This cave is situated on a mountainside over 400 meters high in Fujia Mountain. The exterior is dry, while the interior remains moist, with fern plants growing at the entrance. The temperature inside the cave remains constant year-round, cool in summer and warm in winter, resembling a natural air conditioner. The cave twists and turns like a coiling dragon, extending downward with interconnected chambers, overlapping cavities, and caves within caves. According to on-site geological surveys, the cave contains over 30 large and small chambers, with the largest area spanning approximately 400 square meters and reaching a height of over 40 meters. The surrounding walls are covered with stalactites and various patterns, all uniquely bizarre and vividly realistic—such as an upside-down golden bell, blooming lotus, fairy gazing at the moon, Guanyin sitting on a lotus, a dragon soaring, a seal emerging from water, golden fields everywhere, and jade curtains in a dreamlike haze. The formations, including stone forests, stalagmites, stone curtains, and stone skirts, vary in shape and are intricately arranged, offering breathtaking views.

According to geological experts, this cave has a geological history of 300 million years. Such a unique natural karst cave has not been discovered elsewhere in the province and holds immense cultural appreciation and development value. It is inferred that the cave consists of three main branches, with lengths reaching approximately 2,200 meters, 1,800 meters, and 1,200 meters respectively. This year, nearby villagers have discovered several smaller karst caves around the site, such as Dragon-Phoenix Cave, Water Curtain Cave, Scholar’s Cave, Golden Basin Funnel, and Twin Elephants Playing in Water, all featuring stunning interior landscapes. Analysts suggest that due to the pronounced karst topography of Fujia Mountain, karst caves are quite widespread and may even span the entire mountain forest, making its development potential self-evident.

Fujia Mountain Reservoir is the central hub of the entire water system on Fujia Mountain. With its broad water surface and clear water quality, it serves as an ideal spot for boating and summer retreats. To the left of the reservoir, heading southeast through Fujia Mountain Village, there is a fast-flowing stream. Trekking up the stream, the murmuring water echoes through the valley, creating a serene atmosphere. The riverside scenery is equally exceptional, with birds chirping, flowers blooming, and lush foliage, resembling a paradise on earth. Continuing for another 1,000 meters, you’ll reach a small stone pool about five meters wide, with crystal-clear water. Just over ten meters above the pool lies the famous Twin Dragons Spring. This area also marks the starting point of Shigangzhengzhi. From here, as you move upward, all gullies are dry until you reach the foot of Longjiao Ancient Temple, where springs emerge again. On the right side of Gan’gang, you can see many scenic spots, such as Big Forehead, Small Forehead, Fiery Horse Looks Back, Jade Serpent Emerges from Cave, Candle Shooting into the Sky, and Immortal Bridge.

On the right side of Fujia Mountain Reservoir, there are also two streams that flow directly into the reservoir. The most famous is the Double-Hole Spring (also known as Twin-Eye Spring) stream from Hujawan Village. Though short, it flows year-round with steady strength. The spring water from the Double-Hole Spring is particularly clear, cool, and sweet—taking a sip refreshes the soul and brings immense comfort.

The spring water here is pristine and unpolluted, offering both aesthetic value and great potential for development and utilization. It is a rare and precious resource in our modern era.

On the right side of Fujia Mountain Reservoir, there stands a structure by the shore resembling a door plaque—it is the famous Filial Piety Memorial Archway. According to the inscriptions, this archway was commissioned by Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. The archway features delicate carvings, unique patterns, and ingenious design.

Though somewhat weathered by time, its former charm remains intact, continuing to attract countless passersby to pause and admire.

Leaving the archway and hiking up the mountain path toward Fujia Mountain, you’ll encounter the area’s unique scenery along the way. In April and May, wild peach blossoms blanket the mountainsides, with bees and butterflies fluttering amid the green grass—a sight that leaves visitors with a special feeling. As you ascend the winding mountain path, you’ll reach the elegant and quaint Longjiao Ancient Temple. Records indicate that this temple has a history of over 1,300 years, making it one of the oldest temples in the city. Situated at an altitude of over 700 meters, it is also one of the highest-altitude temples in the region. Having endured countless storms and over 20 major and 60 minor destructions, the temple has now been fully restored, with meditation rooms, courtyards, pavilions, and a guest hall and kitchen. Inside the Mahavira Hall, the statues of deities are vividly lifelike.

Stepping out of the temple and continuing onward, you’ll approach the highest peak of Fujia Mountain—the naturally formed twin peaks known as Longjiao Mountain. At its foothills lies the legendary site where Yue Fei forged his sword. Echoing Longjiao Ancient Temple is Longquan Temple on the right side of Fujia Mountain. The temple’s bells ring incessantly, and incense burns continuously, making it one of the largest temples in the Daye area. Though not as ancient as Longjiao Ancient Temple, its magnificent halls and gate towers are unmatched by other temples. Devotees flock here, adding a touch of Buddhist culture to Fujia Mountain and greatly facilitating the future expansion of tourism.

Fujia Mountain not only captivates with its unique scenery but is also a strategic location of military importance. During the First Revolutionary Civil War, proletarian revolutionaries such as Peng Dehuai, Cheng Zihua, and Xu Ce led local communities here to fight against landlords, ignite revolutions, and strengthen the Third Red Army Corps, engaging in prolonged and arduous struggles against the enemy. Particularly at the Wu Jinshan Revolutionary Base, countless revolutionary martyrs sacrificed their lives, staining the land with their blood. Today, their stories continue to inspire patriotism among local residents and visitors alike.

Fujia Mountain, with its distinctive natural landscapes, has won the hearts of numerous tourists.
