Shangfeng Village Ecotourism Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Shangfeng Village is a national 3A-level tourist attraction, located 5 kilometers south of Daye City. It currently has 3 natural hamlets, 7 villager groups, a total of 462 households, a registered population of 2,288, and covers an area of 4 square kilometers. In 2016, the village collective income was 300,000 yuan, and the per capita income of villagers was 12,092 yuan.

The core tourist area of Shangfeng Village, Shangfeng Hamlet, is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces a stream on one. The hamlet is embraced by the extensions of Daye’s famous mountains—Longjiao Mountain, Luer Mountain, and Daji Mountain. The mountains feature overlapping peaks, ancient towering trees, tinkling springs, and melodious birdsong; the streamside ponds and rice fields are strung together like pearls on a thread; in front of the hamlet, the green water is as smooth as a mirror, reflecting the surrounding mountains and trees, creating an exceptionally charming scene; at the foot of the mountain, historic houses are built along the slopes and streams, arranged in a well-spaced and harmonious layout. The beautiful natural environment and cultural architecture form the idyllic and livable village of Shangfeng Hamlet.

The construction of the beautiful and livable Shangfeng Hamlet began in 2006. At that time, in accordance with the spirit of the Central Government's No. 1 Document of 2006, the Daye Municipal Party Committee and Government arranged for Hubei Xingye Mining Co., Ltd. to station in the village to support the construction of a new countryside. They chose to tackle the “five difficulties” and other livelihood issues as a breakthrough point, making full use of the village’s long history, beautiful environment, and profound cultural heritage to develop the ecotourism industry, achieving remarkable results. In October 2012, the Daye Municipal Government held a special mayoral meeting at Shangfeng Hamlet, deploying its upgrade from new countryside construction to ecotourism village development, aiming to make it a model village demonstrating the municipal government’s strategies of establishing the city through ecology, strengthening it through industry, revitalizing it through reform, and building a beautiful Daye. Since then, the construction of Shangfeng Village as a beautiful, livable, and ecologically friendly village has entered a fast track.

Shangfeng Hamlet has been included in the second batch of the “China Traditional Villages” list by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Finance of China. It has successively won titles such as China’s Beautiful and Livable Village Demonstration, China’s Slow Life Leisure Experience Area, Hubei Province’s Third Batch of Livable Villages, Hubei Province’s Ecological Village, Hubei Province’s New Countryside Construction Demonstration Village, National Ecological Culture Village, Hubei Province’s Green Demonstration Village, Hubei Province’s Charming Tourism Village, a National Fitness Hiking Trail Base, Huangshi City’s Most Beautiful Village, Huangshi City’s Cultural Relics Protection Unit, Daye City’s Second Batch of Cultural Relics Protection Units, and one of Daye City’s New Eight Scenic Spots. Shangfeng Hamlet will strive to become a China Historical and Cultural Famous Village in accordance with the national “Four-in-One” development strategy proposed at the 18th National Congress and the requirements of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development’s Document No. 40 [2013].

Over the past 10 years, with strong support from the Daye Municipal Party Committee and Government, the Jinhu Subdistrict Office Party Committee and Government, various municipal departments, Hubei Xingye Mining Co., Ltd., and the collective wisdom and unity of all villagers, Shangfeng Hamlet democratically elected a new countryside construction council, established a prestigious advisory committee, and revised the village regulations. On the basis of municipal and subdistrict rewards and subsidies, as well as securing national special funds, the village raised a total of 100 million yuan through voluntary contributions from villagers, donations from private entrepreneurs, and contributions from respected villagers. This funded the construction of 6.04 kilometers of graded roads leading to and within the village and across the tourism area, as well as 15 kilometers of interconnected village-group-household roads and walking trails. Safe drinking water has been provided to every household. Over 40 ancient residences have been renovated, and 42 new houses in the Jingchu architectural style have been built. Additionally, 2000 square meters of ancestral halls and clan temples have been expanded, newly built, or restored. Two ponds have been constructed, with water storage capacities of 16,000 cubic meters and 4,000 cubic meters respectively. Three villager leisure areas covering nearly 2,000 square meters have been renovated. A new 1.5-kilometer high-voltage power line has been installed, along with over 40 streetlights. 400 acres of afforestation have been completed, with 20,000 trees and flowers planted around the village and over 20 acres of grassland seeded. Two landslide and debris flow hazard sites have been rectified. Seven flush public toilets have been newly built, and 40 toilets have been upgraded. Four sewage treatment pools have been constructed, and over 300 meters of sewage pipelines have been installed. One garbage collection truck, four handcarts, over 40 mobile trash bins, and over 60 fixed trash bins have been purchased. Five full-time sanitation workers have been hired, establishing a long-term mechanism for waste sorting by households, collection by the village, and centralized processing by the township. Twelve sets of fitness equipment have been installed. Rescue and inheritance efforts have been made for four local intangible cultural heritage projects, a cultural performance team has been formed, and three volumes of the Shangfeng Series books have been compiled and published. A new water plant producing 100,000 barrels of purified water annually has been built, eight new agritainment venues, three rural guesthouses, and six convenience stores have been established, gradually forming a market for agricultural and specialty products. In total, nearly 30 major infrastructure and ecological construction projects for production, living, and tourism have been completed. By the end of 2016, nearly 100 million yuan had been invested, completely transforming Shangfeng Hamlet into a renowned, picturesque village known for its beautiful landscapes, civilized village culture, productive development, and improved living standards.

In 2015, the village received 60,000 visitors, and experts and friends from over 10 countries and regions came to offer guidance. Former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhou Tienong, President of the Chinese Couplet Society Jiang Youquan, former Chairman of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Wang Shengtie, and former Vice Chairman of the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress Luo Hui all inspected the village and spoke highly of it.

Transportation: Take bus No. 18 in Huangshi City to Daye, then transfer to bus No. 5 to the terminal, and finally take the village-to-village shuttle bus to reach the destination, the ancient Shangfeng Village.
