Former Site of the Founding of the Red Eighth Army

Located at the Ma Clan Ancestral Hall in Hongkou Village, Yinzhu Town, Daye City. In the spring of 1930, Peng Dehuai led the Red Fifth Army in sweeping away reactionary armed forces at various strongholds across southeastern Hubei. In June of the same year, following instructions from the Central Committee, Peng expanded the Red Fifth Army Column into the Red Eighth Army and held its founding ceremony at the Ma Clan Ancestral Hall.
