Hu Family Courtyard at Changping Lake

The Hu Family Courtyard at Changping Lake is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

The Hu Family Courtyard is located in Changping Lake Village, Lingshan Town, Daye City. Originally built in the late Ming Dynasty, it was expanded during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty and in subsequent years. It covers an area of 3,000 square meters. The complex consists of two parallel sections and five courtyards arranged along a north-south axis. All structures feature single-eave, flush-gable roofs covered with gray tiles, are built with brick and timber, and exhibit a variety of beam-frame styles, along with fireproof gables. Side rooms and wing rooms are typically two-story buildings and are laid out in a repeating pattern. The overall layout and architectural style of this building complex reflect the historical development of the Hu family and serve as a regional chronicle of a family’s legacy. (Fifth Batch)
