Stele of the Ode to Yangchun Terrace

The Stele of the Ode to Yangchun Terrace is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

The Stele of the Ode to Yangchun Terrace is located in Zhongxiang City. In the tenth year of the Hongzhi reign of the Ming Dynasty (1497), Prince Xingxian Zhu Youcong composed the "Ode to Yangchun Terrace" to express his reverence for the virtuous deeds of the former emperor, his sentiments upon being enfeoffed regarding the ancient and modern wonders of Zhongxiang, and his remembrance of sage ancestors. In the tenth year of the Jiajing reign (1531), Emperor Shizong had the ode engraved on Yangchun Terrace. The stele stands 3.83 meters tall, with a dragon-pearl carving at the top, a Sumeru pedestal, and an inscription reading “The Sacred Ode to Yangchun Terrace Composed by the Wise and Compassionate Emperor of the Great Ming.” This stele provides important physical material for the study of the life and poetic achievements of Emperor Zhu Youcong, posthumously honored as the Wise and Compassionate Emperor of the Great Ming.
