Introduction:

Xiaodangyang is home to the Shennongjia Ancient Botanical Garden, which preserves many living specimens of ancient relict plants. The most famous is a thousand-year-old Tiejian fir, standing about 36 meters tall with a diameter of 2.45 meters—so large that it takes six people to encircle it. Its trunk is extremely hard and makes a resonant sound when struck. Research indicates that this tree has survived through the Song, Liao, Western Xia, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. At one point, the tree was struck by lightning. To save it, people applied mud to the lightning-struck area at the base of the tree and placed a clay statue of Shennong inside. People from far and wide came to offer incense. Today, the wound on the ancient fir has healed, and the golden statue has been enveloped within the trunk—an amazing sight.

Muyu Town: Located in the southern part of the Shennongjia Forestry District, Muyu Town is the region's window to the outside world, with its government office based in Honghuaping. Covering a total area of 437 square kilometers, the town administers eight administrative villages: Qingtian Village, Muyu Village, Xiaodangyang Village, Qingfeng Village, Honghuaping Village, Maohu Village, Sanduihe Village, and Jiuchong Village; two neighborhood committees: Muyuping Neighborhood Committee and Honghuaping Neighborhood Committee; 23 villager groups; and 5,108 households, with a total population of 11,331, including 1,747 farming households, 5,723 agricultural residents, across a land area of 437 square kilometers.
