Watchtower
The watchtower is a cultural tourism attraction.
The watchtower (瞭望塔) is located on Wangnongting at an altitude of 2,997.9 meters. Standing 40 meters tall, it serves as supporting infrastructure for forest fire prevention and monitoring of forest pests and diseases. It was completed on October 1, 1985. A dirt and gravel path of about 100 meters leads to the tower, which is equipped with a high-powered telescope for long-distance viewing.
This is the highest point reachable by regular tourists in Shennongjia. The mountain peak opposite is the true Summit of Shennong, with an elevation of 3,105.4 meters, accessible only by joining an expedition team.
