Legend has it that Batai Yuan was the orchard of Emperor Yan, named after the large quantity of walnut prototypes—Bawan walnuts—still found here. In the park stands a sacred, mysterious, and mystical thousand-year-old Qinling fir tree, said to have been planted by Emperor Yan’s wife, Ting Yao. Revered as the “Nine-Dragon Sacred Fir,” or also called the “Fir Queen,” it is a must-visit spot for those praying for children, prosperity, longevity, and peace.

The scenic area boasts lush vegetation and beautiful landscapes. The primeval Qinling fir forest complements the planted woods, while streams and valleys are naturally formed. The wetlands are tranquil and serene, the “Nine-Dragon Sacred Fir” stands out majestically, wildflowers of various colors dot the scenery, and hundreds of valuable medicinal herbs lie quietly among the mountain forests.

With a negative oxygen ion concentration of up to 270,000 per cubic meter—270 times the WHO standard for fresh air—breathing here for one day is equivalent to a year in a noisy city, making it an ideal destination for health and longevity.

Covering an area of about 8 square kilometers, the scenic area features attractions such as “Spiritual Waters and Mystical Charm,” “Forest Fun and Discovery,” “Home of Shennong,” “Strolling Along the Stream,” “Prayers Beneath the Fir Queen,” “Shennong Tastes Chrysanthemums,” “Red Birch Melody,” and “Fragrant Honey Aroma.” As visitors enter, they gradually find themselves immersed in a delightful, relaxing, refreshing, and unforgettable experience.

The scenic area also offers a variety of outdoor leisure and recreational activities for visitors to connect with and enjoy nature, including mountain biking, tent camping, fishing, DIY barbecues, and whole lamb roasts. A rich selection of Shennong-style local cuisine, seasonal wild vegetables, and medicinal diets caters to diverse visitor preferences.
