The Dahuting Han Tombs are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a patriotic education base.

The Dahuting Han Tombs are located in Dahuting Village, Xinmi, approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Zhengzhou. Passing through a replica Han-style memorial archway and walking about seventy meters south along the road, you will see a large earthen mound on the right side of the road, resembling a small hill. There are two tombs side by side, one to the east and one to the west, about 30 meters apart—these are the Dahuting Han Tombs. These tombs are the burial site of Zhang Boxiong, the governor of Hongnong Commandery during the Eastern Han Dynasty, and his relatives. With a history of over 1,800 years, they are among the largest excavated Han tombs in China and are now a national-level key cultural relics protection unit.

To the east of the Dahuting Han Tombs is a stone-relief tomb, while to the west is a mural tomb. The occupants of these two tombs may have been relatives of Zhang Boya. The internal architectural forms and structures of both tombs are largely the same. Their walls are adorned with colorful and richly detailed stone carvings and murals, providing important clues for experts studying the daily life and customs of the Central Plains region during the Eastern Han Dynasty. The stone-relief tomb measures 26.64 meters in total length, 20.68 meters in width, and 6.3 meters in height for the central chamber. It consists of a front chamber, central chamber, rear chamber, and three side chambers (southeast, north). Except for the central and rear chambers, the inner walls of the other chambers, as well as the passageways and stone gates, feature richly decorated and vividly colored stone reliefs. The mural tomb is 19.8 meters long, 18.4 meters wide, with a central chamber height of 6.7 meters. The tomb walls include approximately 200 square meters of carved murals and about 100 square meters of colored paintings.

They provide valuable material for the study of the politics, economy, culture, and history of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

Take a long-distance bus from Zhengzhou to Dengfeng and get off at the Dahuting stop; the journey takes about 1 hour.
