Yangqianchi Iron Smelting Site

The Yangqianchi Iron Smelting Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhengzhou City.

The Yangqianchi Iron Smelting Site is located in Yangqianchi Village, Niudian Town, Xinmi City. The site lies in a transverse gully on both sides of the Qinshui River, stretching approximately 2,000 meters from east to west and about 500 meters from north to south, covering a total area of around 1 million square meters. A large amount of iron smelting slag, crucibles, and a small number of coin molds have been found within the site, along with square-holed coins bearing inscriptions such as "Chongning Tongbao" and "Daguan Tongbao." The Yangqianchi Site is an iron smelting site dating back to the Song Dynasty. With a large area, thick cultural strata, and abundant unearthed relics, it provides important physical evidence for the study of ancient Chinese iron smelting technology and currency minting systems.
