Gu'an County possesses rich geothermal resources, particularly in the Niutuo Town uplift that traverses the southern part of the county. Below two thousand meters, there is a 100-square-kilometer area where the temperature of the hot water reaches 50–100°C. The stored volume of hot water is 1.3 billion cubic meters, and 270 million cubic meters can be directly extracted. Based on heat conversion, this is equivalent to 58 million tons of coal. Within this geothermal field, it is possible to drill nine self-flowing wells simultaneously, each yielding 2,000 cubic meters of water per day, with an estimated usable life of 40 years. Compared with geothermal fields such as the Paris Basin in France, Akita Prefecture in Japan, and Beijing’s Xiaotangshan in China, Gu'an's geothermal resources are shallower in depth, have a higher temperature gradient, and better water quality. The Niutuo Town uplift is classified as one of the best types of rich geothermal fields in China and also has high medicinal value.

Five geothermal wells have now been drilled: Bao 25 Well, located 25 kilometers south of Gu'an County town and about 2 kilometers southeast of Duliuxiang Township, is currently being developed and utilized by the Beijing Chaoyang District Flower and Plant Company; Bao 8 Well, situated 30 kilometers within Gu'an County town, 900 meters east of the Gu'ma Highway, is located at the west entrance of Xinfangzi Village in Mazhuang Town and is currently sealed and awaiting development. Gu're 1 Well is located 20 kilometers south of Gu'an County town, in Nanzhaogezhuang Village, Niutuo Town. Hainan Daqian Industrial Co., Ltd. has leased 5,000 acres of land centered around this well, planning to build a Mud Hot Spring Eco-Wellness City integrating tourism, sightseeing, leisure, culture, entertainment, conferences, convalescence, and business dining.

With an investment of 800 million RMB, the project is divided into six sub-projects: Hot Spring Rehabilitation City, World Conference Center, Aquatic Eco-World, Modern Eco-Farm, Eco-Tourism Agriculture, and Eco-Agriculture. The first phase includes three sub-projects,

which began construction in 1994. Gu're 2 Well is located in Niutuo Town, 20 kilometers south of the county town, east of Lincheng Village. Gu're 3 Well is located 300 meters south of Gu're 2 Well. Gu're 2 Well and Gu're 3 Well are currently being developed and utilized by the Central Guard Bureau. In 1993, an aquaculture base was built here.
