Introduction to Langfang Xianghe Tianxia Diyi Cheng

Xianghe County is situated in the northern part of Langfang City, known as the “corridor between Beijing and Tianjin.” It borders Beijing to the west and Tianjin to the south and east. In ancient times, the county earned the name “Xianghe” (Fragrant River) due to the widespread cultivation of fragrant lotus flowers. Zhu Di, the Prince of Yan—later known as Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty—once intended to establish his imperial capital here. Nowadays, Xianghe County has gained fame across Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei for constructing “Tianxia Diyi Cheng” (The Greatest Capital Under Heaven) on the very site where Emperor Chengzu once planned to build his capital.

“Tianxia Diyi Cheng” is located in Anping Town, Xianghe County. This ancient-style architectural complex replicates the appearance of Beijing’s imperial capital during the Ming and Qing dynasties on the outside, while encapsulating the essence of Chinese culture throughout the ages on the inside. It is divided into an inner city and an outer city, covering a total area of 1.33 million square meters. The outer city wall stretches 5 kilometers in length and was constructed at a reduced scale based on the shape and size of Beijing’s urban area during the Ming and Qing periods, faithfully reproducing the original design at a 1:1 ratio. The outer city features 22 watchtowers, with more than ten already completed, including the Yongdingmen Gate.

Tianxia Diyi Cheng recreates the image of Beijing. It serves both as a tourism destination and a cultural hub, allowing visitors to transcend time and space to experience the “glory of ancient times” in Chinese history. As a result, the China 2000 Committee designated it as the “China 2000 Park” and held the New Millennium Celebration event here.
