Yi River Rafting is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Yi River Rafting in Song County, Luoyang, is a fashionable water recreation project developed in 2004. From the very beginning of its completion, it has attracted numerous tourists from both within and outside the province who love nature and outdoor leisure sports, thanks to its unique natural resources, the inherent charm of the rafting experience, and its superior geographical location and convenient transportation. It has become a uniquely distinctive tourism project on the southern route of Luoyang.

I. Prime Location and Convenient Transportation

Yi River Rafting is located in the central part of the southern route tourist attractions in Luoyang, adjacent to the Luo-Luan Expressway for tourism. It is surrounded by Song County’s Baiyun Mountain, Tianchi Mountain, and Luhun Lake; as well as Luanchuan’s Chongdugou, Chicken Gourd Cave, Longyuwan, Laojun Mountain, Yangzigou, and the Ski Resort Holiday Area. It is 90 kilometers from Luoyang City and 150 kilometers from Zhengzhou City, making it a must-visit destination for travelers on the southern route of Luoyang.

II. Longest Rafting Distance and Innovative Styles

The entire rafting course in Song County’s Yi River spans 17 kilometers, making it one of the longest natural rafting sections in China.

The course is divided into two sections: the Forest Rafting Section covers 3 kilometers and takes about 1.5 hours, and is currently unique in China. It features a mechanical water battle area, wave zone, artificial water fight area, riverside restaurant area, artificial beach, leisure island, lovers’ island, countryside fun zone, and forest playground. The Main River Rafting Section covers 14 kilometers and takes about 3 hours, featuring the longest swimming area and water battle zone in Central China.

III. Scenic Views, Cultural Heritage, and Numerous Legends

Forest Rafting Section. The Yi River winds through dense forests and secluded valleys. In spring, when trees begin to bud, the entire woodland resembles a light ink-wash painting. In summer, the dense canopy blocks out the sun, accompanied by the constant chirping of cicadas. In autumn, the rustling autumn wind turns the forest leaves golden, and after the frost, fallen leaves carpet the ground—over 300,000 square meters of sandy beaches turn golden, like a layer of golden carpet. In winter, when the woods are barren, the river is finally revealed, with its frozen surface resembling a pure white ribbon hanging among the trees.

Main River Rafting Section. Towering mountains line both banks, with peculiar peaks, strange rocks, and scenic spots such as Phoenix Terrace, Phoenix Showing One Wing, Nine Dragons Facing Phoenix Mountain, Broken Wing Cliff, Messenger Cliff, Jade Emperor Summit, Direction Stone, Wife-Watching Stone, River-Calming Needle, Marx Statue, Elephant Trunk Rock, and Heavenly Candle Peak. There are also deep pools and rapids like Wind-Drinking Pool, Crow’s Thirst, Princess Pool, Night-Crying Pool, Sun-Turning Pool, and Shaking Gold Shoal. There are large river bends such as Wudao Bend, Shaking Gold Bend, and Golden Turtle Bend. Rafters alternately experience thrilling rapids and serene deep pools by cliffs—exciting yet safe.

The rafting section is rich in legends. These include the beautiful tale of Bao Zheng of the Northern Song Dynasty sitting in Dingyuan (Old County) to rid the people of evils; the legend of Li Zicheng of the late Ming Dynasty burning the Hongye Kiln (ruins still exist); the Legend of Nine Dragons Facing Phoenix; the Legend of Phoenix Showing One Wing; the Legend of Wudao; the Legend of Wife-Watching Stone; the Legend of Jade Emperor Summit; and the Legend of Brother Planting the Fields.

IV. Stable Water Volume, Raft Anytime

Three kilometers upstream of the Song County Yi River Rafting is the Qianhe Reservoir, which automatically regulates water flow. Whether in dry or flood seasons, in the morning or afternoon, you can go rafting anytime with guaranteed safety.

V. Complete Facilities and Comprehensive Functions

In 2005, an investment of 3 million yuan was made to build the Happy Forest Central Dock, Henan Bridge Dock, and Laodao Gully Dock. A large parking lot can accommodate over 200 vehicles at once. Other amenities include specialty shops, standard restaurants, farmhouse buffet restaurants, changing rooms, drying rooms, showers, forest open-air tent accommodations, beach soccer fields, beach wrestling arenas, bonfire party areas, and fishing ponds.
