The Former Residence of the Wan Family and Wan Family Cemetery are protected cultural heritage sites in Henan Province.

The Former Residence of the Wan Family was the home of Wan Xuancai, who served as the Chairman of the Henan Provincial Government during the Republic of China period. In June 2006, it was included in the fourth batch of cultural heritage protection units in Henan Province. The residence currently has over 60 rooms, divided into two large courtyards to the east and west, which are connected by passageways. It features the traditional architectural style of a two-courtyard folk quadrangle, with each courtyard’s street-facing rooms, central halls, and main rooms all five bays wide, tall and spacious, adorned with carved beams and painted rafters. The eastern courtyard was where the Wan family lived, and the rear main room is a two-story building, locally known as the “Commander’s Building.”

After Wan Xuancai’s death, he was buried at the Wan Family Cemetery located east of the village. Covering an area of about 50 acres and facing south, the cemetery features structures aligned along a central axis, including the main gate, an octagonal pavilion, a memorial archway, and the tomb mound, with side rooms and guards’ quarters on both sides arranged in an orderly fashion. These buildings blend traditional Central Plains architectural elements with European styles, presenting a unique aesthetic and representing an important modern cultural relic in Luoyang.
