802 Military Exercise Review Stand

The 802 Military Exercise Review Stand is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

The 802 Military Exercise Review Stand is located 1,000 meters north of Pentyao Village in Wantong Town, and 2.5 kilometers west of Wanquan Wei City. Covering a total area of approximately 13,071 square meters, it was constructed using earthworks and stone materials.

From September 15 to 21, 1981, the Beijing Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army conducted the 802 military exercise under modern combat conditions in the Bashang area and within Wanquan County. Deng Xiaoping, Li Xiannian, Hua Guofeng, Wang Zhen, Wan Li, Liao Chengzhi, Yang Shangkun, and Bo Yibo, among other Party and state leaders, observed the exercise. Participating units included elite modern forces that had fought in the Second Revolutionary Civil War, the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, and the Korean War—artillery, armored, engineering, air force aviation, and airborne divisions.

In February 2001, it was designated as part of the fourth batch of provincial-level key cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Hebei Province.

Wantong Town: Located in the northeastern part of Wanquan District, Wantong Town lies within a shallow low-mountain hilly region. It is 10 kilometers east of Zhangjiakou’s main urban area, 10 kilometers south of Kongjiazhuang County Town, and 10 kilometers north of the Bashang Grassland. The town enjoys superior transportation conditions and a prominent geographical advantage.
