Shuangmiaogou Ruins

The Shuangmiaogou Ruins are a protected cultural heritage site of Henan Province.

The Shuangmiaogou Ruins are located in Shuangmiaogou Natural Village, Zhao Wu Village, Chuan Kou Township, Lingbao City. To the east of the ruins lies a slope area extending to Gongzhongtai; to the west, a cliff formed by the residential area’s fortress wall; to the south, the northern edge of Sunjiagou; and to the north, the southern gully cliff of Shuangmiaogou. The total area covers 56,068 square meters, stretching 1,500 meters from east to west and 400 meters from north to south. The site is located on the second terrace on the eastern bank of the Badixi River, sloping from high in the east to low in the west, forming a terraced pattern. Within the exposed sections of the site, ash pits are densely distributed, and the cultural layer reaches a thickness of about 3 meters.

Among the collected pottery fragments are those from bowls, jars, basins, li tripods, ding tripods, and small-mouthed pointed-bottom bottles. Stone tools include stone axes and scrapers. The materials are predominantly gray clay pottery, followed by sand-tempered gray pottery, with a small amount of red clay pottery. The decorative patterns consist of cord marks, basket weave patterns, and a few incised lines. This site holds significant value for studying the continuity between Yangshao and Longshan cultures.
