Site of Wancheng Ancient City

The Site of Wancheng Ancient City is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Henan Province.

The Site of Wancheng Ancient City is located on the north bank of the Baihe River (historically known as the Yu River) in Nanyang’s urban area. In Wancheng District, remnants of ancient city gates, the moat, and the moat bridge can still be seen today. Origin of the name: “Wan” (宛) is one of the earliest place names for Nanyang. It reflects both the geographical feature of a “basin” and the region’s ecological environment.
