Shaanxi Guild Hall in Tanghe

The Shaanxi Guild Hall in Tanghe is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Henan Province.

Shaanxi Guild Hall

The Shaanxi Guild Hall is located in Yuantang Town, about 20 kilometers north of Tanghe County. Also known as the Guan Yu Temple, it is a provincial-level cultural heritage site, originally built in the ninth year of the Yongzheng reign during the Qing Dynasty, and was funded by merchants from Shaanxi.

The Shaanxi Guild Hall faces south and has a two-courtyard layout, covering an area of 5,000 square meters. Existing structures include the main hall, east and west side halls, east corridor rooms, and a pair of iron flagpoles. The main hall stands on a 2-meter-high stone base and is a two-story building, measuring 34 meters in width across three bays and 11.2 meters in depth across two bays, with a height of 16 meters. The interior floor area is 128.52 square meters. On either side of the main hall are side halls. These side halls are also two-story buildings, slightly shorter than the main hall, with a total area of 158.26 square meters. To the left and right of the main hall are east and west corridor rooms; only two east corridor rooms remain today, featuring flush gable roofs covered with gray tiles, covering an area of 117.7 square meters. The iron flagpoles are located on both sides of the central axis to the south of the main hall. They are hexagonal pillars cast from wrought iron, with a diameter of 0.20 meters and a height of 17.5 meters, consisting of seven sections each, mounted on the backs of cast iron male and female lions.
