Xianyin Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Xianyin Temple was one of the “Five Great Temples of the Central Plains” in ancient times. Located on Xianshan Mountain in the western suburbs of Xinyang City, it was first built during the Qi and Liang dynasties by Monk Zaisong. The temple derives its name from the fact that it was constructed on the hermitage site of Zhou Pan, a filial and incorruptible official from the Eastern Han Dynasty.

It originally had over a hundred halls, featuring a grand scale and majestic presence. Over time, it has gone through many vicissitudes and has been repeatedly ravaged by war, leaving only a few of its major structures remaining. Nestled within a valley surrounded by peaks and gullies, Xianyin Temple is embraced by pine trees and bamboo, with winding paths and secluded beauty. To the east of the temple lies Lotus Peak, which resembles a lotus pedestal, and to the west is Ribbon Ridge, shaped like a flying ribbon in the wind. Behind the temple is Xianyin Cave, which is four meters high and five meters wide and deep. There is also Biryu Spring, known for its clear and sweet-tasting water, and Immortal’s Bed, a flat rock as smooth as a whetstone. After paying homage, visitors can stroll along the forest trails, listen to the rustling pines and birdsong, watch the drifting clouds, and enjoy a serene and boundless sense of leisure.
