The Dahongcheng site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Hebei Province.

The Dahongcheng ruins are located on a high ridge north of Kulun Lake, eight kilometers north of Guyuan County in Hebei Province. Dating from the Han to the Northern Wei dynasties, the site is square-shaped, with each side measuring 135 meters and oriented approximately 10° east of true north. The terrain inside the city is bowl-shaped, higher in the southeast and lower in the west.

The walls were constructed from rammed earth, with a base width of 15 to 17 meters, a top width of 2 to 3 meters, and remaining heights of 1.5 to 2.2 meters. Corner towers were originally built at each of the four corners, though the location of the gate is unclear—it is thought to have been on the eastern side. Approximately ten meters from the southern wall, there is another earthen wall that appears to have functioned as either a water barrier or a barbican. The ground within the city is scattered with numerous rope-patterned pottery shards, a small number of plain gray bricks, as well as fragments of gray and red earthenware. There are also blackish-brown iron ore stones. About 200 meters west of the site, slag from iron smelting and remnants of iron-smelting furnace structures have been discovered.

In October 2008, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit by the People’s Government of Hebei Province.

Shandianhe Township: Shandianhe Township is located 10 kilometers northeast of Guyuan County. Provincial Highway “Banhu Line” runs east-west across the entire township, while National Highway “Mushan Line” traverses the township from north to south through the seat of the township government. Village-access roads crisscross the area, providing convenient transportation. The township covers a total area of 340,000 mu, governs 12 administrative villages, 46 natural villages, and has a population of 5,542 households totaling 13,206 people. Among them, there are 1,849 registered impoverished households comprising 2,983 individuals, including 1,000 households with 1,552 individuals who have not yet been lifted out of poverty.
