Weihai Dingyuan Battleship Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The "Dingyuan" Memorial Ship is a full-scale replica of the Asian No.1 battleship from a century ago—the original "Dingyuan." It recreates the grandeur of this legendary vessel, featuring onboard themed exhibition halls, military uniform displays, and sailor life exhibits. The content mainly revolves around the Beiyang Navy and the "Dingyuan" ship. The entire exhibition begins with the glory of ancient Chinese naval power represented by Zheng He’s treasure ship, continues through the Self-Strengthening Movement's plans for coastal defense construction, and ultimately highlights the "Dingyuan" ship, showcasing the valiant Beiyang Navy in the Battle of the Yellow Sea. Additionally, the scenic area includes a dome theater that screens films about the Battle of the Yellow Sea, as well as 3D movies, further enriching its educational outreach.

The Dingyuan Battleship Scenic Area is located in the bustling urban area of Weihai, a picturesque coastal city in Shandong Province. Its main attraction is a full-scale replica of the "Dingyuan," the flagship of the late Qing Dynasty’s Beiyang Navy.

The current Dingyuan Battleship is a 1:1 scale replica of the original late Qing Dynasty Beiyang Navy vessel, which served as the flagship during the Battle of the Yellow Sea in the First Sino-Japanese War, bearing witness to a glorious chapter in Chinese naval history. The ship displays practical daily items used by sailors at the time, as well as military equipment such as machine guns and torpedoes. The dome theater uses film footage to recreate many historical scenes, and a wealth of historical documents are also preserved onboard. Though the turbulence of a hundred years has passed, history still resonates in the hearts of every Chinese person.

Transportation

Take bus No.1 from Weihai Bus Station or Railway Station and get off at Harbor Building Station; the scenic area is right on the right-hand side.

Within the city, take bus No.1, 7, 9, 13, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 26 and get off at Harbor Passenger Transport Station, then walk to reach the site.
