Former Site of the Starfish School

The former site of the Starfish School is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

The former site of the Starfish School is located within the campus of Jingyuan Primary School at No. 5 Wenhua East Road, Huancui District. It was originally the teaching building of the Starfish School, an annex to the Catholic church built by the French church in Weihai. The complex consists of two buildings.

The western building was built in 1921, covering an area of 164 square meters, with eight bays in width, a depth of 8.2 meters, a height of 8 meters, and a hip-and-gable roof. It served as the office building of the Starfish School and is well preserved.

The eastern building was constructed in 1932 and completed in 1934. It covers an area of 448 square meters, with a width of 32 meters, a depth of 14 meters, and a height of 12 meters. It has a rectangular floor plan, three stories, a stone structure, and a basement. The upper-floor terrace features a parapet wall. There are steps on the northern part of the western wall and the eastern part of the northern wall. Inside, the central corridor runs north-south, with classrooms on both sides.

It was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province in 2006.
