Qianfo Mountain Forest Park in Yixian County

Located 16 kilometers northwest of Yixian County, Qianfo Mountain Forest Park is a provincial-level forest park covering a total area of over 20,000 mu, with a forest coverage rate of 65% and an average elevation of 1,122.6 meters. It features three main valleys. The scenic area boasts grotesque rocks, towering peaks, lush forests, and murmuring streams.

Legend has it that during the Sui Dynasty, skilled Buddhist artisans carved one thousand Buddha statues inside a karst cave at Shayukou for Buddhist disciples to study and worship, hence the name Qianfo Mountain (Thousand Buddha Mountain). Later, due to warfare, the cave was sealed.

The Qianfo Mountain scenic area is rich in biodiversity, with hundreds of species of trees, shrubs, and vines, as well as hundreds of species of herbaceous plants and rare medicinal fungi. It is also home to more than ten kinds of rare wild animals, earning it the title “Gene Bank of Wild Species in Northern Baoding.” The vast expanse of limestone scattered across the mountains and valleys makes for premium water-absorbing stones. With its majestic and verdant mountain landscape, the area is a winter wonderland of ice sculptures and a cool, refreshing retreat in summer—making it an ideal destination for sightseeing and travel.
