Stone Buddha of Zhenguosi Temple

The Stone Buddha of Zhenguosi Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

The Stone Buddha of Zhenguosi Temple is located in Jiécūn, Yí County, and is a stone carving from the Sui Dynasty.

The statue depicts Shakyamuni Buddha carved from white marble, standing 4.95 meters tall on a lotus pedestal. The base bears inscriptions such as “Great Sui State…” The Buddha is draped in a kasaya adorned with colorful clouds. The carving is exquisitely detailed with smooth lines, fully showcasing the typical Buddhist art style of the Sui Dynasty, and holds significant reference value for the study of Sui Dynasty cultural customs and stone carving art. Zhenguosi Temple currently has three halls of the Great Buddha built during the Qing Dynasty, which were renovated in 1899. The stone Buddha is placed in the center of the main hall. Currently, both the Buddha’s hands and feet are damaged, and the head was stolen and severed on March 6, 1997.

On July 15, 1993, the Stone Buddha of Zhenguosi Temple was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Hebei Province.
