The Ancient Locust Tree of Boxing

Legend has it that this ancient locust tree has a history of over a thousand years. From afar, it resembles a soaring dragon or a giant green umbrella, standing majestically against the blue sky and white clouds, exuding vigor, strength, and vitality. The tree’s girth measures 4.85 meters—so wide that it takes three people to barely encircle it.

The trunk is hollow inside, and half of the crown is dead, while the other half’s bark stubbornly and tenaciously sprouts dense branches, lush and dripping with vitality—a true miracle of life. Inside the tree hollow, the mottled bark and twisted trunk form winding, interlacing patterns, resembling a cavern of rugged rocks.

Its verdant appearance evokes thoughts of its distant beginnings, its long growth through the ages, and its legendary past, stirring awe and admiration. The well-known tale of Dong Yong and the Seven Fairies adds an enchanting touch to the folklore surrounding this “matchmaking immortal” locust tree.

Hongfu Garden & East China Stele Forest

Built on the former site of the Han Dynasty Hongfu Temple, Hongfu Garden covers an area of over 50 acres and is rich in ethnic cultural features, featuring many classical-style buildings and inscribed stelae by renowned calligraphers. It is a traditional folk culture garden of considerable influence. The East China Stele Forest houses more than 150 stone tablets inscribed with calligraphy by notable figures such as Fei Xiaotong, Wang Guangying, Cheng Siyuan, Shen Peng, as well as Chen Lifu, Chiang Wei-kuo, and masters from patriotic religious circles, along with contributions from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries.
