Boxing County Martyrs' Cemetery

The Boxing County Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural relic protection unit of Boxing County.

The Martyrs' Cemetery was first built in 1956, and in 1980 the original single-story memorial tower was converted into a two-story memorial hall. The cemetery is rectangular, longer from north to south and shorter from east to west, with the main gate located on the south side and the memorial hall on the north. To the southeast and southwest of the memorial hall are stele pavilions, each housing a stele inscribed respectively with “Eternal Glory to Martyr Zhang Jingyuan” and “Boundless Benevolence.” There are 43 martyrs’ tombs in the courtyard. Above the entrance of the first floor of the memorial hall is inscribed “Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall.” The front wall of the indoor area displays a list of 2,195 martyrs. On the outer wall of the second floor hangs a plaque inscribed with “Shining Through the Ages,” while the indoor area exhibits the deeds and relics of eight martyrs including Wang Bochang. In 1982, the county government designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
