Wangqiao Memorial Martyrs' Pavilion

In 1945, the Boxing County government and local residents built this pavilion to commemorate the officers and soldiers of an Eighth Route Army battalion who sacrificed their lives fighting Japanese puppet forces in Wangqiao Village on May 12, 1941. The square-shaped pavilion stands 5 meters tall with each side measuring 3 meters. It features a brick-and-wood structure with a hip-and-gable roof that converges at the top. Stone tablets are embedded on all four sides, each 1.6 meters high and 0.8 meters wide. The southern tablet bears the inscription “Died for the Country” written by Ma Qianli; the northern tablet features an inscription recounting the details of the Battle of Wangqiao, written by Chen Zhutun and calligraphed by Zhu Huimin; the eastern tablet lists the names of the martyrs. The western tablet records the year and month the pavilion was erected. The pavilion is surrounded by a brick flower wall that is 1.5 meters high and 6 meters on each side, with an arched gate on the southern side.
