Luoluobǎ Hutong

Luoluobǎ Hutong is located in Dongwangwen Village, Chunhua Town, Boxing County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province, stretching 220 meters from north to south and 150 meters from east to west. In the southern part, it features a unique layout with five entrances and exits in the east, west, south, and north directions, resembling three interconnected crank handles. From the outside, it appears to be a dead-end alley with no through passage, but walking into any of the alleys reveals winding paths. The hutong is entirely lined with old houses—most villagers have relocated, leaving only about 30 households still residing there. In 1940, our troops used the advantageous terrain here to outmaneuver the enemy and ultimately achieved a victory against greater numbers in what became the famous “Wangwen Battle.” To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the War of Resistance, Shandong Radio produced a program at Luoluobǎ Hutong in Wangwen Village. Through the promotion of the “Red Luoluobǎ,” it gained widespread fame.
