Tomb of Wang Bochang

The Tomb of Wang Bochang is located on the west side of the village committee courtyard in Wanglou Village, Bochang Subdistrict, Boxing County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province. The tomb faces south and is enclosed by cement railings. It is pyramid-shaped, approximately 3 meters high, and the back of the tombstone records the life story of Wang Bochang. His original name was Wang Hanru, with the courtesy name Jiesan. He was from Wanglou Village in Boxing County. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1931 and served as the director of the Boxing County Normal School Training Institute. During the “August 4th” uprising in Boxing in 1932, he was the reserve county party secretary. In November 1934, he was arrested in Weixian County, where he organized and led struggles in prison. He was released in 1937. In June 1938, he became the secretary of the Boxing County Party Committee. In August, he led the Boxing Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army south to Linzi, where they were incorporated into the Eighth Detachment of the Ludong Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit of the Eighth Route Army, and he served as the political commissar of the 13th Battalion. On September 18, he sacrificed his life at the age of 33 while covering the troop retreat in a battle in Linzi. In 1991, to commemorate his heroic deeds, the county party committee, county government, and village committee renovated the cemetery.
