Gao Miao Li Catholic Church

Gao Miao Li Catholic Church is located in Gao Miao Li Village, Pangjia Town, Boxing County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province. In the late Qing Dynasty, foreign missionaries built the Gao Miao Li parish in Gao Miao Li Village. After its establishment, the parish was first under the jurisdiction of the Jinan Diocese, then later the Zhoucun Diocese. It was successively administered by German and American priests. Around the year 1890, a five-room church was constructed in Gao Miao Li Village. By the end of 1944, all foreign clergy had been withdrawn. After that, the site was used as a garment factory, newspaper office, munitions factory, oil and cotton mill, hospital, school, and grain depot for the Eighth Route Army. In 1986, the church returned to the ownership of the Catholic Church. In 1997, the church roof was renovated. It is the oldest and largest church building discovered within the county and surrounding areas.
