Chenhu Memorial Pavilion for Martyrs

Chenhu Memorial Pavilion for Martyrs is a cultural relic protection unit of Binzhou City.

Constructed in 1945 by the Boxing County government and local residents to honor the soldiers and civilians who died in the anti-Japanese battles at Qiaodong, Fenggao in December 1942 and at Chenhu in 1945. The memorial tower is built on a rammed earth platform, which is square, with each side 20 meters long and 4 meters high. The platform is surrounded by a 1.5-meter-high wall, featuring an arched entrance on the southern side. The tower is octagonal, has five stories, and is topped with a hip-and-gable roof. It stands 15 meters tall overall, with the base side measuring 1.65 meters. The southern face has a door, the western side holds a stone stele inscribed with an account of the Qiaodong and Fenggao battles, written by Wang Jianxin and calligraphed by Jia Yizhai; the southeastern side features another stele describing the Chenhu battle, authored by Yan Yuge and calligraphed by Gao Yunhan; the northern side bears a stele engraved with the names of the martyrs.
