The Ancient City of Leling

The Ancient City of Leling is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shandong Province.

The Ancient City of Leling is located in Huayuan Town, Leling City, dating back to the Han Dynasty.

The ruins of the Ancient City of Leling are located 350 meters north of Dagujia Village in Huayuan Town, Leling City, 300 meters north of Chengzihou Village, stretching 600 meters from east to west and 420 meters from north to south, covering a total area of 252,000 square meters. The remnants of the ancient city on the southern, northern, and eastern sides are intermittently connected, with varying wall heights of up to 2.3 meters. The surrounding area consists of farmland, with flat terrain. Currently, the site is planted with crops, and villages are located to the west and south.

This site is a ruin of an ancient city from the Han Dynasty and is currently protected as a municipal-level cultural heritage site. Strengthening the protection of this site and enhancing its development and utilization play a significant role in studying the architectural style of ancient cities in northern Shandong during the Han Dynasty.

On June 23, 2015, the Ancient City of Leling was designated by the People's Government of Shandong Province as part of the fifth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites in Shandong.

Huayuan Town: Located in the southeastern part of Leling City, Huayuan Town borders Yangxin County to the east, Zhengdian Town to the south, Yang’an Town to the west, and Tiejing Town and Zhaitoubu Township to the north. It covers a total area of 88.96 square kilometers, with 0.59 million hectares of arable land. The town administers 24 communities and 17 administrative villages. In 2018, the town’s gross domestic product reached 1.17008 billion yuan, with a combined industrial and agricultural output value of 851.89 million yuan. Local fiscal revenue amounted to 11.1 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 16,221 yuan.
