Sun Yiqing Art Gallery

Established and opened to the public on September 16, 2014, the gallery displays 100 exceptional calligraphy works and 108 cherished inkstones that belonged to Sun Yiqing, former President of the Chinese Poetry Society and Honorary President of the China Cultural Relics Society. Sun Yiqing, also known by his courtesy name Hongxia Guyong, was a native of Leling City, Shandong Province, and joined the Communist Party of China in 1938. Throughout his life, Mr. Sun had a deep passion for calligraphy and poetry, a strong interest in collecting art, and a refined eye for appreciation. He earned great respect and admiration from peers in the literary and art circles, and was elected President of the National Poetry Society. In his later years, Mr. Sun entrusted his wife, Ms. Zhang Yong, and their children to donate his collection of fine calligraphy works and inkstones to his hometown free of charge. To honor Mr. Sun’s profound attachment to his roots, the Leling Municipal Government funded the construction of this art gallery, with additional support from Mr. Tian Jinyun. It now stands within Chongsheng Park, a place filled with an atmosphere of cultural reverence.
