Ruins of Prince Hui’s Tomb

The ruins of Prince Hui’s Tomb are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shandong Province.

Prince Hui’s Tomb is located 35 li southwest of Leling City and 500 meters southeast of Guanwangmiao Li Village in Yang’an Town. It is actually a Longshan Culture site. The mound is 55 meters long, 42.5 meters wide, and 2.8 meters high. The 1736 edition of the Leling County Annals refers to it as “Prince Hui’s Tomb,” “Marquis Hui’s Tomb,” and also “Ash Mound.” Artifacts unearthed include: stone axes, perforated stone axes, stone sickles, spinning whorls, cosmetic vessel rims, pottery towers, pottery chickens, pottery beanpot handles, and Han Dynasty roof tiles, among other production tools, daily-use items, and ornamental pieces, all rich in life-like detail. It is a site featuring both burials and multiple cultural elements. Among them, the pottery tower and pottery chicken have been collected by the Shandong Provincial Museum of History. To the south of the village lies a small hill, said to be the Tomb of King Yi, collectively referred to as the Two Kings’ Tombs along with Prince Hui’s Tomb.
