Qingyun Reservoir

Drive 20 kilometers east of the county town to reach Qingyun Reservoir, a large plain reservoir covering an area of 5,000 mu with a water storage capacity of 15.25 million cubic meters. The name of the reservoir was inscribed by the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. Constructed in 1993 and put into use in 1995, Qingyun Reservoir solved the drinking water and livestock water problems for 300,000 residents of the county. In gratitude, local residents spontaneously erected an archway inscribed with the couplet: “Farewell to millennia of bitter water, welcome everlasting sweet springs,” expressing the deep appreciation of the people in the once water-scarce region toward the Party and the government.

Like a bright pearl inlaid on the North Shandong Plain, Qingyun Reservoir shines with increasing radiance, attracting more and more visitors for leisure and recreation. Climbing the majestic ten-li-long dam, one can take in the breathtaking scenery. Gazing into the distance, the vast expanse of blue water merges seamlessly with the sky; listening closely, the gentle waves lap against the shore with a soothing rhythm; crouching down, one can spot fish swimming beneath the surface and birds resting along the banks. Outside the dam lie neatly arranged fields, lush crops, quaint villages nestled in the landscape, and ponds teeming with ducks—offering city dwellers a serene taste of nature and rural tranquility.
