Xianghai Chanlin Ancient Jujube Ecological Park

Xianghai Chanlin Ancient Jujube Ecological Park is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Zhang Huolang Village in Dongxindian Township is one of the model villages for new rural construction in Qingyun County. It is located 2.5 kilometers west of Qingyun County, with a population of 638 and over 800 acres of arable land. The village leverages its ecological advantages of ancient jujube trees, taps into tourism resources, and has developed an ancient jujube ecological park by utilizing idle abandoned ponds and pits in the village, along with some farmers voluntarily contributing their land as shares. The scenic area is divided into seven major spaces: the Orientation Area and Comprehensive Service Area are in the center, surrounded, in a counterclockwise direction, by four core spaces — Ancient Jujube Chanlin, Sea Island Golden Mountain, Carefree Blessed Land, and Jujube Grove Hermitage — as well as the Qibao Xiangtang Hot Spring Resort. Based on the cultural context of jujube culture and centered around Buddhist culture, it has been built into a renowned Buddhist garden in northern China that “showcases the ecological landscape of ancient jujube trees and embodies the artistic conception of Buddhist culture.” The scenic area achieves a coordinated development between tourism resource development and increased income for farmers and agricultural growth, promoting the transformation of folk and agricultural specialty resources into tourism products.

Dezhou Xianghai Chanlin Ancient Jujube Ecological Park was planned and designed by the Shandong Provincial Tourism Planning and Design Research Institute. With landscape, ecology, human culture, and leisure as its main themes, and rooted in traditional culture, it uses the natural jujube forest as its carrier and the surrounding landscape as its backdrop. It skillfully integrates natural ecology with traditional culture and incorporates elements from stories and legends in Journey to the West. It is now a national AA-level tourist attraction. Xianghai Chanlin has become a leisure resort center that combines eco-agricultural sightseeing, dining and accommodation, conferences and business, as well as leisure and wellness.
