The Comrade Kong Fansen Memorial Hall is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a cultural heritage site protected by Liaocheng City, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The Comrade Kong Fansen Memorial Hall is situated within the Dongchang Lake Scenic Area, a national 4A-level tourist attraction in Liaocheng. It is the only thematic memorial hall in China that comprehensively promotes the shining deeds of Comrade Kong Fansen—an exemplary leader, a model of ethnic unity, and a devoted practitioner of the Party’s mass line. Approved for establishment by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on July 4, 1995—with the name inscribed by [Comrade]—the Hall was officially opened on September 10, 1995. In March 2012, it underwent expansion and renovation at its original site, becoming the first low-carbon memorial hall in China designed and built according to the standards of a three-star green energy-efficient building.

The memorial covers an area of 19,000 square meters, with a main building spanning 8,000 square meters, square roads totaling 7,000 square meters, and a greenery rate of 43.3%. It includes a thematic memorial hall, an exchange exhibition hall, a variety exhibition hall, a film and lecture hall, and a memorial square. The thematic memorial hall uses photographs, physical objects, scene reconstructions, and multimedia to centrally display the typical deeds of Kong Fansen—known for serving the people, being pragmatic, and maintaining integrity. It celebrates his remarkable life as a figure who moved China and one of the major exemplary models since the founding of New China. The space serves as a vivid educational site for the entire Party and society to extensively, deeply, and continuously learn from Kong Fansen, strengthen integrity and idealistic education, and foster and practice core socialist values. The exchange, variety, and film exhibition halls are designed with advanced features, elegant styles, and comprehensive functions, hosting cultural exhibitions and public welfare events year-round. The memorial square is an ideal venue for various collective commemorative activities. The site is adorned with pleasant flora, boasts a sound ecological environment, and offers beautiful surroundings, making it a new cultural landmark of Liaocheng and a city park themed around heroic models. The memorial also administers the Kong Fansen Memorial Park, located in Tianfuyuan in the western suburbs, about a 15-minute drive from the memorial. Covering an area of 10,600 square meters, it currently includes four functional zones: a cemetery, a memorial square, gardens, and a parking lot, and serves as the resting place of Comrade Kong Fansen’s ashes.

Since its opening, the memorial has received over 15 million visitors from across China, as well as compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and international friends. A nationwide touring exhibition lasted two years and attracted more than ten million visitors. Party and state leaders such as Hu Jintao, [Comrade], [Comrade], and [Comrade] have visited the hall for tours and guidance. The memorial has become the preferred destination for promoting the spirit of Fansen, spreading heroic model culture, an important venue for cadres and Party members to strengthen their sense of purpose and enhance Party spirit, the best platform for the general public to receive red cultural influence and uphold integrity, a second classroom for young students to establish ideals and cultivate moral character, and has been named by relevant national ministries and commissions as a National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base, National Integrity Education Base, National Cadre Education Base, National Youth Education Base, National Ethnic Unity and Progress Education Base, National University Cultural Quality Education Base, and a National Classic Red Tourism Destination.

Kong Fansen (July 1944 – November 29, 1994), the 74th-generation descendant of Confucius, was born in Wulidun Village, Tangyi, Liaocheng City. After graduating from the Liaocheng Technical School in July 1961, he enlisted in the military. In 1964, he was recognized as an active learner of Chairman Mao’s works in the Jinan Military Region, and in October of the same year, he went to Beijing to attend the 15th anniversary National Day celebration. He joined the Communist Party of China with honor in September 1966, returned to Liaocheng after being demobilized in 1968, and served as the deputy director of the Revolutionary Committee of the Liaocheng Technical School.
