Liaocheng Christian Church

Liaocheng Christian Church is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaocheng City.

Liaocheng Christian Church is located to the north of the Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall in Liaocheng, facing east and situated along the river. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Liaocheng City.

Liaocheng Christian Church was first built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period by American missionaries. The existing structures include the main church building and the pastor’s residence, covering an area of about 2,000 square meters. The main building of the church is a two-story structure, with three-story watchtowers on both sides and a four-story bell tower. The pastor’s residence is located to the north of the church, a three-story castle-like building with flat roofs and arched windows, serving as the former living quarters for clergy.

Liaocheng Christian Church is one of the more well-preserved church buildings in western Shandong. Its exterior features Gothic architecture, but the building materials consist of traditional Chinese blue bricks topped with red tiles. The blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles gives it a unique look, making it of high cultural and aesthetic value.
