The Pearl Theater of the Water City (Liaocheng), designed by Tsinghua University, was completed in May 2003. With its novel and unique architectural style that blends the cultural essence of both the East and the West, it stands as a masterpiece of architecture and art. The theater is a hemispherical structure with a diameter of 83 meters, a height of 33 meters, and a floor area of 9,000 square meters, featuring a one-of-a-kind opening and closing mechanism in China. When opened, it resembles the grandeur of the Sydney Opera House in Australia; when closed, it showcases the elegance of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in China, allowing audiences to enjoy the charm of both open-air and enclosed theater experiences. The theater is equipped with central air conditioning, a lifting and rotating stage, and lighting and sound systems with unique capabilities, delivering optimal audiovisual effects for high-end, premium-quality artistic performances. The theater houses 4,000 new, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing seats, luxurious dressing rooms for performers, VIP lounges, a boutique shop, as well as a charming café and tea lounge located by the 16 lakes outside the theater — all of which reflect the luxurious ambiance of the Pearl Theater of the Water City (Liaocheng).
