Liaocheng Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Liaocheng Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is located on the west bank of Huan Cheng Lake along Dongchang West Road in Liaocheng City. Established in 1986, the cemetery covers an area of 35,000 square meters with a total construction area of 1,891 square meters. Its main structures include the Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, the Monument, the Plaza, and the Fan Zhuxian Memorial Hall.

The Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall was completed in 1990, with a construction area of 1,315 square meters. A plaque inscribed with “Liaocheng Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall,” written by Song Renqiong, former Vice Chairman of the Central Advisory Commission, hangs on the north side of the hall. Inside the hall, the deeds and some personal effects of 224 martyrs are displayed. At the center, on a marble pedestal, stands a sculpture of a red flag symbolizing the vigorous development of the revolutionary cause in Liaocheng. The preface praises the great achievements of the revolutionary martyrs, while the white marble floral sculptures surrounding the space express the deep remembrance of later generations for the martyrs.

The cast bronze sculptures on the left and right sides of the hall recreate the battle scenes of “the Liu-Deng Army Crossing the Yellow River in 1947” and “the Yanggu Poheli Uprising in 1928.” The forged copper reliefs hanging on both sides of the hall showcase the heroic figures of the periods of national independence, liberation of the motherland, and socialist construction. A sand table model illustrating the development history of the Communist Party of China in Liaocheng and an information inquiry system for the city’s 13,692 martyrs enrich the exhibition’s content and format. The Martyrs’ Cemetery Plaza and the Martyrs’ Monument were completed in 1996. The plaza spans 7,200 square meters, and the monument covers a construction area of 576 square meters, with the main body standing 22 meters tall and inscribed with the gilded characters “Revolutionary Martyrs Monument.”

In 1990, the Martyrs’ Cemetery was approved by the People’s Government of Shandong Province as a provincial-level key protected memorial building for martyrs. It also serves as a patriotic education base in Liaocheng. Each year, it receives over 30,000 visitors from all walks of life.
