Hutoushan Village is located adjacent to the airport, providing rare and superior convenience for developing a distinctive tourism village. Jining Airport serves eight cities across four provinces—Shandong, Jiangsu, Henan, and Anhui—including Jining, Tai’an, Zaozhuang, Heze, Shangqiu, Puyang, Huaibei, and northern Jiangsu, covering a population of nearly 40 million. It is an important civil aviation hub in Shandong Province and the only one in southwestern Shandong. The airport has opened six major hub routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang, and Qingdao, and is gradually becoming an air bridge connecting the hometown of Confucius and Mencius with the outside world, attracting a large number of tourists to Hutoushan Village.

Creating Unique Folk Culture. Hutoushan Village has now become an important settlement area for the Hui ethnic group in the province. The entire village strictly maintains the ethnic customs and lifestyle of the Hui people.

Creating a Favorable Tourism Environment. Aiming for new rural development, the village has continuously enhanced rural infrastructure construction to provide a high-quality living environment for its residents. Starting in 2004, the village committee focused on infrastructure projects such as cement roads and tap water for the ethnic village. In 2006, a high-standard mosque was renovated.

Vigorously Developing Distinctive Animal Husbandry. With the Hui people forming the majority of the population, Hutoushan Village has adhered to the path of “strengthening the village through animal husbandry and tourism.” In 2003, the village committee applied for and received over 320 Small-Tailed Han sheep from the provincial ethnic affairs commission in a single allocation. Through a model of household-based free-range farming and rolling development, the village has now raised over 1,500 Small-Tailed Han sheep, generating annual income of more than 4 million yuan.
