Jinjun Canal

The Jinjun Canal is a cultural relic protection unit of Jining City.

The Jinjun Canal is located in Wenshang County, starting from the Pípá Mountain inlet sluice in the south and extending to Qiánzhāngwú Village in Yiqiao Town. It spans across five townships: Jūntún, Yàngdiàn, Báishí, Yuánzhuāng, and Yiqiáo. Dating back to the modern era, it is classified as an important historical site and representative structure of the modern period.

On December 26, 2016, the Jining Municipal People’s Government announced it as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Jining City.

Yiqiao Town: Yiqiao Township is situated in the southeastern part of Wenshang County, the ancient central capital. It borders Mount Tai to the north, Weishan Lake to the south, Qufu—the hometown of Confucius—to the east, and the Water Margin Liangshan region to the west. Covering a total area of 68.6 square kilometers, it governs 40 administrative villages with a population of 45,000 and 69,000 mu of arable land. It was liberated in 1948 and came under the jurisdiction of the Second District. In 1956, it was divided into Yiqiao Township and Zhāngwú Township. In 1958, it became part of the Nanzhan People’s Commune. In 1962, Yiqiao Commune was established, which was restructured into Yiqiao District in 1984 and changed to Yiqiao Township in 1986.
