Tanshan Scenic Area

Tanshan Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Tanshan Scenic Area is located within Baishi Town, Wenshang County, Jining City, and is the highest peak in Wenshang County. The white rocks on the mountain are strikingly unique, protruding in shapes that are perfect for leaning, sitting, or lying upon, making them highly scenic and enjoyable for visitors. Historical records describe it as “Among the rocky valleys of Zhongdu (Wenshang), none surpass the beauty of Tanshan Peak. The mountain winds and stretches, twisting and turning with captivating allure.” Before the Cultural Revolution, the mountain was home to a temple dedicated to the Goddess Bixia Yuanjun, and its temple fair was widely renowned for its incense offerings. To this day, ancient architectural ruins such as an old stage can still be found on the mountain. The tomb of Rongzi and the burial complex of Guo Chaobin, a Ming Dynasty Minister of Works, are also well-preserved on the mountain.
