Guolou Ancient Chengtian Scenic Area

Guolou Ancient Chengtian Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Guocheng Village in Guolou Town is located at the town government seat, adjacent to the Jixu Expressway to the east and about 10 kilometers from the county seat. It was the site of the “Cheng State,” a feudal state established during the Western Zhou Dynasty, and also the birthplace of the hermit Rongzi. The village has a long history and features a wide range of historical ruins, including the remains of the Zhenwu Guanyin Temple, Guan Di Temple, Guanyin Hall, ancient city gate, ancient moat, and multiple flower-patterned well sites. In the village committee courtyard stands a nearly 400-year-old persimmon tree, while the home of villager Kong Xiangshun houses a “landscape stone” that once stood at the entrance of the Kong family residence during the Kangxi era. The home of villager Huang Xinhua treasures a wooden plaque with the carved inscription “Virtue Crowned the Party Neighborhood,” bestowed upon his ancestor Huang Jinghua by fellow villagers during the Daoguang era. In early 2017, under the strong leadership and support of the town party committee and government, the village’s “two committees” established a rural tourism development strategy centered around the cultural brand of “Ancient Capital of the Cheng State, Hometown of Rongzi,” and carried out high-standard planning and construction. Through the development of tourism projects, a variety of experiential activities were introduced, attracting numerous tour groups and nearby visitors. It has gradually become an ideal destination for “strolling through the countryside and slowing down the pace” to experience leisurely rural life.
